Barbara Pressman is an Adjunct Professor in the College of Education at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). Barbara has over 30 years of teaching experience as a tutor, a sub, and a classroom teacher in New Jersey, Connecticut, and Florida. Currently, Barbara is a University Supervisor for FAU student teachers in the Palm Beach County (PBC) school district. In addition, she is one of the founding participants and a Master Mentor in a innovative new program, Substitutes with Mentors and Realistic Teaching (SMaRT) that has been developed by FAU and is being implemented within PBC schools. The SMaRT program's goal is to supply qualified, trained subs to PBC schools using a combination of mentoring and training. Many of the ideas contained in The Substitute Teaching from A to Z are being applied daily as part of SMaRT. Barbara has a B.S. and M.S. in Education from the University of Bridgeport. |
